Monarch was engaged to refurbish the R2 Café in the Russell Precinct. This refurbishment has enabled the café to become a central meeting place for the Russell Precinct, with better provisions to facilitate catering needs and help address peak demand.

The project included the design of a suspended acoustic baffle system suspended from the grid ceiling, and consisted of variety of different colours to compliment the decor.

Various materials were used for this project including terrazzo tiles to the coffee counters, solid American oak timber cladding to the booth seating, stainless steel benchtops to the back of house counters, and compact laminate to the top of joinery counters.

A key element of this project was the high quality workmanship that was instilled to the columns throughout the café. The columns were finished with Venetian plastering to give the raw concrete look.

This project sits proudly in Monarch’s portfolio, serving as another outstanding case study of our innovative and exceptional construction work.
