New Disabled Access

Monarch was engaged to construct a new disabled access driveway at the front of the building to improve accessibility for both vehicles and pedestrians while maintaining its heritage design.

This was a challenging project requiring special care as the existing paving and pattern was to be matched to create the driveway.

The existing entrance driveway was filled to create a gradual slope before re-paving the slope in replication of the previously paved pattern. In addition, new brass handrails were installed as well as modifications to the existing doors.

The new driveway now allows for easy pedestrian and vehicular access without compromising the original design of this Canberra icon.
