The Statesman Hotel was originally opened on the 11 December 1986 by then Prime Minister Bob Hawke, has been an iconic building in the Canberra hospitality industry ever since.

Due for an upgrade, Monarch Building Solutions were engaged to provide a construct only refurbishment of the 4,500m2 building involving the full internal demolition and complete re-fit out of all services to see the building brought up to current standards.

The scope included the complete renovation of 70+ hotel rooms, new show kitchen, sports bar, main bar, cocktail lounge, function room, meeting rooms, all amenities, and various back of house areas.

Despite the extraordinary variety of finishes involved in this refurbishment the project was delivered ahead of time and on budget.

It was evident from the onset that Monarch presented their intention towards our project as business partners aligned to our mutual success, rather than contractors undertaking a project.
