Monarch was engaged to complete multiple building upgrades across the active RAAF Base Wagga and the Defence Reserve Depot in the Wagga township.

The scope of work included the construction of a new accommodation building to the Reserve Depot in Wagga town, refurbishment works to three live-in accommodation buildings, a jail cell and holding area extension to the existing Police Services Building, office building fit-out works, and asbestos removal and refurbishment works to two aircraft hangers.

This project was completed within an operational Defence Base which required careful planning and communication with stakeholders to allow for movement of personnel and aircraft. Monarch managed high risk activities and complex construction works across multiple sites by allocating two full time supervisors and adhering to strict induction/base security protocols to ensure the works were completed safely and to the highest quality.

Despite design issues causing extensive delays to the completion of works; Monarch worked collaboratively with the client, design team and contractors to manage ongoing program and scope changes and also provide advice on buildability concerns, design improvements and material options to minimise impact on cost and quality.

The implementation of a local Monarch Wagga/Albury based project team during the completion of the project further reinforced our attention to detail during the finalisation works which resulted in zero defects on handover.
